Samsung presenteert Gear S3 Classic en Frontier.Naast het uiterlijk van de Gear S3 Classic en Front is er nog een verschil, want de Frontier krijgt ook een variant met 3G/4G-connectiviteit, zodat je niet langer je smartphone verplicht hoeft te koppelen. Beide modellen beschikken standaard over Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, NFC en GPS. Er zijn geen nieuwe sensors toegevoegd aan de Gear S3, zo blijft het bij een accelerometer, gyroscoop, barometer, gps en een lichtsensor. De Samsung Gear S3 wordt aangedreven door de Exynos 7270-soc met 768MB aan werkgeheugen. Dit is een 14nm-chip met twee Cortex A53-cores die draaien op 1Ghz. Er is 4GB flashgeheugen beschikbaar voor opslag. Een andere welkome verbetering is de aanzienlijk grotere accu van het tweetal; de capaciteit is gegroeid van 250mAh naar maar liefst 380mAh. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de Gear S3 bij normaal gebruik drie tot vier dagen meegaat, een dag langer dan zijn voorganger. Net als de eerdere smartwatches van Samsung draait ook de Gear S3 op Tizen. Het gaat hierbij versie 2.3.1 en het besturingssysteem werkt met alle smartphones die Android 4.4 KitKat of nieuwer draaien. Ondersteuning voor de iPhone komt er eveneens aan, maar het wachten is nog op de Gear Manager-app voor iOS. |
